Champion jockey Craig Williams has announced he’ll once again return to Ukraine to deliver much-needed humanitarian aid to the war-torn region.
Williams and his Ukraine-born wife Larysa have made multiple trips to the country over the past few years, providing vital trauma kits to those impacted, as well as raising awareness of the ongoing war with Russia.
“Once my riding engagements through the winter months in Queensland finish, then we’ll be heading back over there to deliver this humanitarian aid to the people,” Williams said.
“Unfortunately, the situation for the Ukrainian people hasn’t changed, they’re still fighting for their life due to the Russian Federation’s aggression.
“Larysa and I are again going to go over to Ukraine to show support and also to deliver most-needed trauma and survival kits to help contribute to saving lives.
“And to make sure that even though we’re 15,000km away they know we give a damn for their struggle every single day.
“We’re going to go over there and with your support we can really make a difference over there and if we can save one person’s life, it’s a great thing to do.”
