Craig Williams ended his most successful season in Melbourne with just the one winner at Caulfield on Saturday.
Williams guided Miss Iano to victory in the $125,000 Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1100m) to bring up his 83rd victory in Melbourne since August 2018.
The 41-year-old finished 18 victories clear of his great rival Damien Oliver to claim his eighth Melbourne Jockeys’ Premiership.
Between them, Williams and Oliver have won the Melbourne title a remarkable 18 times.
Williams’ previous highest tally of Melbourne winners came in the 2007/08 season when he won 81 races.
He will now commence a brief period of holidays before returning to the Melbourne riding ranks on August 24.
