Craig Williams has a third-straight Doomben 10,000 in sight this Saturday after he was booked late for last-start Group 1 winner Schwarz.

Williams, who won the race in 2023 with Giga Kick and again last year with Bella Nipotina, was booked for the budding stallion on Tuesday morning after final acceptances as Schwarz had been left without a rider when Blake Shinn decided to take a 10-meeting suspension this week.

Williams, who is yet to ride the last-start William Reid Stakes champion, has an awkward draw to contend with in the 1200-metre feature on Saturday as Schwarz came up with barrier 11 in the field of 16 horses plus an emergency.

Victory in the $1 million sprint would register a sixth G1 win this season for Williams, who has 82 G1 successes across his career.
