Champion jockey Craig Williams will ride Alcohol Free in Saturday’s Everest.
Williams, who won the race last year on Victorian star Giga Kick, was confirmed as the jockey on Monday after Yulong confirmed the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained import for the $20 million sprint at Royal Randwick.
Alcohol Free arrived in Australia amid significant fanfare after being purchased for $10.4m at last year’s Tattersalls December Mares Sale, making her the second-dearest thoroughbred sold in Europe at the time.
Alcohol Free made her Australian debut in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf during the autumn, but was beaten by 8.1 lengths as a $3.70 pop.
She then returned in the G2 Premiere Stakes last month, where she was beaten by 2.82 lengths by Think About It.
