Williams rode Sir Delius with a bit of vigour closer to the inside and the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained galloper responded to the task as he has took another important step towards a racing return.
“My instructions were to be forceful with him and make sure he was a racehorse and he was very good at responding,” Williams said.
“His improvement from his first trial to his second himself by not need too much encouragement from me, was really good.
“He is a proper racehorse and I could feel the way he has come on from his first and second trial and I am delighted with the way he is going.”
Sir Delius was ruled out of Melbourne spring carnival after failing Racing Victoria’s stringent veterinary protocols but has been given the green light to continue his career in NSW.
He is currently the $3 favourite for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
