Craig Williams didn’t let trainer Luke Oliver down after he received a text from him pre-race that he needed to win on Justdoit.
Williams explained that Oliver’s wife Georgie was about to have their first baby and he needed Justdoit to win as there was going to be an extra mouth to feed.
“It was a funny text saying she needed to win with the extra mouth to feed. I actually said to her in the straight, ‘come on you’ve got to win with the extra mouth to feed’,” Williams said.
“She began well and off-set the barrier. She relaxed well and had petrol in the tank,” he said.
Williams wasn’t going to let an opportunity to reference Nike after he has saluted on Justdoit in the Benchmark 84 1400m for mares.
Daniel Stackhouse had informed Williams the mare’s stable nickname was Nike.
Williams said Damien Lane, who had ridden her at her previous start, had given him a good insight into her.
