Today I’m riding at Ballarat. The rail is out two metres from the 1600 to the 800m and eight metres for the remainder, with the track rated in the soft range.

Race 1 is the Happy Birthday Macey 2YO Fillies Maiden Plate over 1100 metres, my ride here is GLITTER ‘N’ GOLD who is trained by Danny O’Brien. This daughter of Choisir is raced by Rosemont Stud and partners. She’s had one official trial at Cranbourne in preparation for her raceday debut where she was ridden back in the field and stayed on nicely. I rode her in a recent jumpout on the course proper at Flemington from the 2000 metres around to the 1200, it was a beautiful surface but it can be hard to get a guide on horses as there is no designated finishing post and most horses get a bit lost being out wide on the course proper. I liked the way she felt in her jumpout and she was very professional in her attitude. If she brings her jumpout effort to the races she will take a lot of beating today.
