Craig Williams is looking to continue his winning Group 1 run in 2018 by linking up with leading Sydney trainer Bjorn Baker in his attempt to win a third Australian Guineas on Saturday at Flemington.

Williams, who began 2018 with wins in the C.F. Orr Stakes aboard Hartnell and last Saturday aboard Brave Smash in the Futurity Stakes, is set to take the Guineas ride on Addictive Nature, who comes to Melbourne with strong Sydney form.

Baker said on Monday that the Savabeel colt was due to travel to Melbourne on Wednesday, but admitted to being unsure as to how the Sydney form related to the three-year-old form in south of the border.

“It’s hard to know and to weigh-up the form lines but he’s in good order and a nice horse so we’re looking forward to getting him down there,” Baker said.

Making the task of comparing the form in both cities tougher is the fact that Baker sent Addictive Nature against the older horses at his latest run when a close-up fifth behind Endless Drama in the G2 Apollo Stakes at Randwick.

“He got beaten two lengths and it was a good fitness run if nothing else,” Baker said. “They really rolled along and he kept plugging at the finish so I think there was plenty of hidden merit in the run.”

Williams has twice won the Australian Guineas, with Shamus Award in 2014 and aboard the filly Miss Finland in 2007.
