Craig Williams will have the task of piloting talented stallion Spieth in the Group I Doomben 10,000 on Saturday week.
Spieth will debut for trainers David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig in the Doomben 10,000. The Lindsay Park team floated the idea of a trip to England with the son of Thorn Park but decided on the Brisbane races as the sprinter’s winter targets.
Williams has had four rides on Spieth for two wins and a second placing. He was aboard in Spieth’s maiden win at Pakenham in September 2015 and in the speedster’s victory down the Flemington straight in June 2016.
Sportsbet has Spieth at $17 in its latest Doomben 10,000 market.
Multiple Group I winner Redzel is the $2.20 favourite for the event ahead of In Her Time at $4 and Le Romain at $8.50.
