Today I’m riding at Doomben. The rail is out 11 metres and the track is rated in the soft range.

Race 5 is the SKY RACING Class 5 Handicap over 1660 metres. My ride here is GOLDIFOX who is trained by Toby & Trent Edmonds. This five-year-old mare by Foxwedge has had 27 starts for a record of three wins and seven minor placings. I won on her at Bendigo when she was trained in Victoria and since she has been transferred to QLD I have ridden her in three of her four runs. She is dropping back in grade today after running in Listed company last start at Eagle Farm with the winner of that race, Charleise, being accepted to run in the Group 1 Tatts Tiara on Saturday where she is an emergency. Two starts ago at Doomben Goldifox finished second in class 6 company over 1600 metres where she came from well back in the field to only be narrowly beaten. She is a mare that seems to race well on firmer footing, so it will be interesting to see how the track walks and races throughout the meeting. She will start from an inside barrier draw today, but can be slow into stride so I’ll have to be mindful of that and hopefully she can step on terms and take advantage of the draw in this small field. On her best form she will take a lot of beating in this.
