Craig Williams’ bid to win back-to-back Blue Diamond Stakes features rests on the sturdy shoulders of boom filly Kinky Boom.
Williams confirmed on Monday he will take the reins aboard the Tony McEvoy-trained daughter of Spirit Of Boom in the $1.5 million Caulfield feature on Saturday week.
The leading hoop had a bevy of options last year heading into the Blue Diamond, and he chose and rode perfectly, guiding filly Catchy to victory in the race.
Williams gave Kinky Boom a sweet run to win the $250,000 2YO Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield on February 3, which saw the filly shoot up to be an equal $8 favourite with CrownBet for the Blue Diamond.
